Wreck of the Peter Iredale - Photo by LDELD

Running aground in 1906, the Peter Iredale was a four-masted barque that once sailed the coastlines of the Pacific. In October of 1906, under heavy winds, the captain of the vessel was unsuccessful in battling against the wind and the ship wrecked on the sandy beach. There were no casualties, and the ship was never recovered or broken apart. The result is one of the most accessible shipwrecks along the Oregon coast and a perfect photo location.
