Immerse yourself in a landscape that seems plucked from a dream at the Dunas de Yeso (Gypsum Dunes) in Coahuila, Mexico. Located within the Biosphere Reserve of Cuatro Ciénegas, these dunes stretch across an incredible 8000 hectares of desert landscape. Their stark white appearance contrasts dramatically with the surrounding arid environment, creating a breathtaking spectacle for photographers. One can also find an intriguing totem structure amidst the dunes, providing an excellent focal point for your compositions. The intricate patterns in the sand, cast into relief by the interplay of light and shadow, offer endless close-up opportunities. Alternatively, use a wide-angle lens to capture the vast expanse of the dune field. The area is not only perfect for nature photography, but its isolated location away from city lights also makes it an excellent spot for astrophotography. Do remember to protect your camera equipment from the fine gypsum sand.
