Cape George Point Lighthouse is easily one of the most beautiful in Nova Scotia. Situated atop cliffs in a park setting, this lighthouse guides vessels in St. George’s Bay from on high. The current lighthouse is the third to stand at this location, and remnants of the original 1861 lighthouse’s foundation still exist near the base. The lighthouse is octagonal, tapered in design, and reinforced concrete.

The current Cape George Point Lighthouse dates from 1968 and is beautifully maintained by the local community that now owns it. The local community ensures it looks resplendent in classic white with a red top. The setting, impeccable maintenance and traditional white and red colours make this one of the best lighthouses to photograph. As a bonus, the park is also the trailhead for three Cape George Network hiking trails.
