Stirling Falls - Photo by Erico Marcelino
Stirling Falls is a dramatic cascade flowing over a steep, mossy cliff into Milford Sound. At a staggering 151m in height, Stirling is three times the height of Niagara Falls, but the 1,300m mountain behind it disguises this incredible height. The sheer drop of the cliff face allows boats and brave kayakers to get right beneath the cascading water. This set of falls can be seen in the distance from the Milford foreshore, but best viewed by cruise or kayak. (Milford Sound, New Zealand)
