White Dome Geyser - Photo by Jonathan Larson

White Dome Geyser is an imposing cone-type geyser located on the western side of Firehole Lake Drive. It is easily seen by people waiting for eruptions of nearby Great Fountain Geyser. Despite its impressive, 3.5 m (12 feet) high cone, which is one of the largest in Yellowstone, with a medium-sized eruption of about 9 m (30 feet) height. An eruption occurs moments after splashing begins. The eruption starts with jets of water progressing into steam and spray. The geyser is temperamental and irregular, but intervals between eruptions usually range ten minutes to one and a half hours (averaging around 30 min). (Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA)
