Coquille River Lighthouse | Oregon Photo Spot
Share this Page
Coquille River Lighthouse, built in 1896, has been guiding mariners through the treacherous entrance of the Coquille River to the Pacific Ocean for over a century. The lighthouse, with its distinctive white conical tower and attached keeper’s house, offers photographers an iconic image of the Pacific Northwest’s maritime history. The structure’s position at the edge of the river mouth, surrounded by a landscape of sand dunes and often cloaked in ethereal coastal mists, provides opportunities for atmospheric and dramatic compositions. Wildlife is abundant in the surrounding Bullards Beach State Park, making this a prime spot for capturing images of shorebirds and other coastal species. While the lighthouse is no longer active, it is open for tours and provides an inside look into the life of a lighthouse keeper during the turn of the 20th century.
