Times Square - Photo by James Ting

Formerly known as Longacre Square, Times Square acquired its name when the New York Times newspaper moved its headquarters to the newly erected Times Building. From then on, the new name stuck, and the square itself became a commercial centre of the growing city. Times Square has since become synonymous with New York and is possibly the most famous intersection in the world. Millions of visitors flock to the square every year for the New Years Eve ball drop, or just to get a selfie at this world-famous location. (New York, New York, USA)
