Located within the Sweedler Nature Preserve at Lick Brook, Ithaca, Lick Brook Falls is a beautiful cascade that offers ample photographic opportunities. The waterfall is approximately 140 feet high, spread out in a series of drops, the highest of which measures around 80 feet. While beautiful year-round, the falls are most dramatic in the spring when the melting snow fuels the cascades, and during the winter, when the falls transform into stunning ice formations. To reach the falls, follow the trail from the parking lot on Town Line Road, which leads through a diverse landscape of forest and gorge to various viewpoints of the waterfall. Keep in mind that the trail can be steep and slippery in places, so wear appropriate footwear and exercise caution. Lick Brook Falls’ natural beauty, dramatic drops, and seasonal transformations make it a compelling spot for any landscape photographer.
