Portland Head Light | Maine Photo Spot

Completed in 1791, Portland Head Light is a historic lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth overlooking the rugged headland. The lighthouse can be shot throughout the day but one of the best times is sunrise. The lighthouse is on the grounds of Fort Williams which is closed until just before sunrise. Just have your car ready at the gate when they open it, you won’t have a lot of time to drive in, park and get set up for your shot. As a bonus since it sits at the entrance of the shipping channel into Portland Harbor this is also a perfect location to shoot some of the huge ships going in and out of the harbour.
