Bug Light is a small breakwater lighthouse that was built in 1875 and is one of Maine’s most elegant lighthouses. Originally modelled on an ancient Greek monument, it was built with plates of cast iron to withstand the harsh winter conditions. It was dubbed “Bug Light” due to its small size. The lighthouse is surrounded by a park that has views of Eastern Prom, Fort Gorges, the working waterfront, a handful of the Islands in Casco Bay. (South Portland, Maine, USA)
