Bass Harbor Head Light | Maine Photo Spot

Bass Harbor Head Light is a very photogenic lighthouse nestled in the trees along the rocky coast of marine. This 1855 era lighthouse is located within Acadia National Park in the southwest portion of Mount Desert Island, marking the entrance to Bass Harbor and Blue Hill Bay. Take the  Bass Harbor Lighthouse Trail to the light for the best photos. The trailhead is at the far end of the parking lot. There are various tidal pools and other photo opportunities along the trail. Bass Harbor Light is a perfect day trip destination for photography. There is parking, but it can be pretty full on the weekends. We recommend visiting in the early morning or evening.
