Tunnels Beach, or Makua Beach, is renowned for its stunning, crescent-shaped reef and pristine, golden sands, nestled against the backdrop of lush mountains. The beach gets its name from the many underwater tunnels and arches formed by the extensive reef system, home to a plethora of marine life. For photographers, it’s a canvas of contrasts and colors – the deep blues of the Pacific Ocean, the warm tones of the sand, the rich greens of the surrounding foliage, and the brilliant hues of tropical fish. Above water, the sunset views are spectacular, as the sky takes on shades of pink, orange, and purple. Arrive early in the morning or late afternoon for softer light and fewer crowds. Don’t forget to bring your underwater camera gear to capture the fascinating sea life and coral formations.
