The Heublein Tower stands 165 feet and surveys the Farmington River Valley with views as far as Hartford, Connecticut. The tower was part of Gilbert Heublein’s summer home. Gilbert made his fortune in food and beverage manufacturing including the A1 Steak Sauce brand and Smirnoff Vodka. The tower and attached mansion were designed to resemble the architectural styles of Gilbert’s native home in Bavaria. The tower and mansion were completed in 1914. To get to the tower, follow Route 185 from either Simsbury or Bloomfield. At the top of the hill, the entrance to Talcott Mountain State Park/Heublein Tower will be on your left. The Tower Trail is 1.25 miles long and will take approximately 30 – 40 minutes. The Heublin Tower is open to visitors Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 10am – 12pm and 1pm – 4pm.
