The National Memorial for Peace and Justice is an impressive public space dedicated to the legacy of enslaved black people in the United States. Opened in 2018, the memorial is a moving open-air museum that covers a six-acre site. The work seeks to contextualize the terror and trauma created by violence inflicted on black people in the south during slavery and the Jim Crow era. Multiple sculptures and other art pieces memorialize the victims and pay homage to a dark era in US history. (Montgomery, Alabama, USA)
