The Pulpit Rock is a stunning overlook at the end of a reasonably easy trail in the Cheaha Mountain area. The Pulpit Rock Trail is an easy 0.6-mile out-and-back trail in Cheaha State Park near the town of Heflin. The trail is a bit rocky and has a few steep sections, but it should be no problem for anyone, given the short distance and the well-worn route. The views at the trail’s end are fantastic, with scrawny trees jutting from the rock edge that makes for great photos. Pulpit Rock overlooks the Talladega National Forest, which covers over 400,000 acres of untouched wilderness. Cheaha Mountain is Alabama’s highest point and a popular place for hikers and explorers. The park closes at sundown, but given the short distance to the location, it is perfect for golden hour photography and sunsets; just be sure to head back after the sun has set. (Delta, Alabama, USA)
