The Place d’Armes is a public square in the old quarter of Montreal and the second oldest site in the city. In the square’s centre is a statue of Paul de Chomedey, Montreal’s founder. The square is also bordered by the photogenic Bank of Montreal headquarters with its romanesque columnar architecture and the famously photogenic Notre Dame Basilica. The square remains a popular tourist destination and is often bustling with people and a lively part of the city that can make for great street photography opportunities. in the evenings, the square is largely empty and also provides interesting shooting opportunities of the historic site.
