The Witless Bay Ecological Reserve, with its four islands – Gull, Green, Great, and Pee Pee – serves as a haven for a plethora of seabirds during the breeding season. This sanctuary is teeming with life from May to September, offering photographers unrivaled opportunities to capture images of nesting puffins, kittiwakes, and murres, among other species. The breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and rugged coastline also provide dramatic backgrounds for stunning landscape and seascape shots. Boat tours available during the season provide an excellent vantage point for close-up shots of the birds and the islands. Make sure to pack a telephoto lens to capture the intricate details of the birds without disturbing them. Early morning or late afternoon tours are recommended for the best lighting conditions and active bird behavior.
