Tron Kirk has stood in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town for almost 400 years, its towering spire seen across the city. Over the years, the Tron has withstood fire, riots, two World Wars, dry and wet rot, at least two demolition proposals, and various changes in use. A peculiar mixture of Gothic and Palladian architectural styles, Tron Kirk features a fine hammerbeam roof of an unusual latticed truss construction. (Edinburgh, Scotland)
