Drumhollistan is an amazing hidden gem. This incredible trail runs along a soaring cliff above the rugged Northern Atlantic and is dotted with Puffin nests. The best time to see the puffins is between late March and early August. Outside of this period the birds spend their time at sea in the Atlantic and North Sea. Even without the puffins this stretch of coast is worth a wander. The cliffs aren’t the highest but it is wild and feels remote even whilst the road is nearby. There is a small parking area along the A836 between Melvich and Reay. Please remember this area is the puffin’s nesting grounds so give them space and leave no trace. (Melvich, Scotland)
