Sitting among the salt marshes there is the remains of the Thornham Old Harbour which was used – among other things – to unload coal brought down the coast from Newcastle. The old Coal Building still stands tall along the waterway slowly falling into ruins. The area is filled with trails winding through the salt marshes that are also quite photogenic.
