Nestled in the heart of England’s Lake District, Rydal Mount and Gardens is a site of great historical and photographic significance. This was the family home of the famed poet William Wordsworth from 1813 until his death in 1850, and the captivating views of Windermere, Rydal Water, and the surrounding fells were a constant source of inspiration for his poetry. The house is set amidst a four-acre hillside garden, which Wordsworth designed and loved. For photographers, the location offers an enchanting array of shots, from close-ups of blooming daffodils, Wordsworth’s favourite flower, to the terraced lawns, rock pools, and rare shrubs. The historic house, with its quaint architecture, also provides an interesting subject. Visit in different seasons to capture the changing scenery and the garden’s diverse palette.
