Holkham Hall is an 18th-century country house surrounded by sprawling grounds. The home features a Marble Hall with an impressive 50ft dome ceiling and elegant walls of English alabaster (not marble as the name suggests). Plus a grand staircase that leads to a myriad of staterooms. From the Saloon with its rich, red walls, gilded coffering, and lofty ceiling; to the many sumptuous bed chambers where royalty once laid. The state dining rooms are adorned with exquisite porcelain, galleries of sculpture and art by the Old Masters, and libraries bursting with books and manuscripts. Finally, the Old Kitchen, with its rows of polished copper pots, pans, and moulds, is a delight to photograph. The surrounding parkland is alive with deer and mighty oaks, a walled garden bursting with blooms and heritage, a nature reserve thrumming with wildlife, farmland abundant in wildflowers and hedgerows, and an expansive beach backed by dunes and pine forests.
