Charco Verde - Photo by JP Files

Charco Verde is a unique “green pond” tucked inside the great crater separated from the sea, most of the time, by a strip of rich black sand. Its distinctive green colour is formed by marine flora in the water. This unusual coloration is specifically due to the accumulation of seaweed: marine ruppia.

With an impressive volcanic landscape around the pond, it is the perfect setting for landscape photography with a colourful background with the green of the pond, the black sand, the red gravel of the cliff and the blue of the sky and sea. (El Golfo, Isla de Lanzarote, Spain)
