Eigerøy Lighthouse - Photo by Falk Lademann
Eigerøy Lighthouse was originally built in 1854 and has one of Europe’s most powerful lights. It was the first cast-iron tower to be built in Norway. At the time they were unsure whether it was heavy enough to resist the strong winds that blow in this area so 70 000 stones were used to line the tower from the inside. The lighthouse sits on the small rocky island with only a very narrow roads so you will have to walk from the parking lot on the mainland. (Midbrødøya Island, Norway)
