Tyrol Castle ancestral seat of the Counts of Tyrol, its origins stretch back into the late 11th century, and gave the whole Tyrol region its name. This medieval castle is located in majestic position high above Merano on a huge moraine. Today the castle is home to The Provincial Museum that offers unique exhibits from all over South Tyrol, which date from the Stone Age to modern times. (Tirol, Italy)
