The Chiesetta di San Giovanni, or the Church of St. John in Ranui, is a striking sight. Dating back to 1774, it forms part of the Ranui Hof estate and is set against the stunning backdrop of the Dolomite mountains. With its picturesque location amid verdant meadows, it has become one of the most photographed sites in South Tyrol. A perfect viewpoint for capturing its beauty is about 100 meters up the road from the church; a telephoto lens is highly recommended to capture the church’s intricate details and the grandeur of the surrounding landscape. The pasture in front of the church has been fenced off to protect it from tourist traffic, and it is important to note that drone photography is not permitted in this area. Despite these restrictions, the Chiesetta di San Giovanni in Ranui provides an extraordinary photographic opportunity with its remarkable setting and unique architectural charm.
