Reykjanesviti Lighthouse | Iceland Photo Spot
Share this Page
Reykjanesviti lighthouse is the oldest in Iceland and stands at 31 metres atop a hill along the southwest coast. Constructed in 1929, the lighthouse has a classic construction of concrete painted white and topped with a red light housing. The lighthouse is still in active use today. Reykjanesviti is picturesque, with wildflowers at its base and a lovely lighthouse keeper’s house nearby. Also, geothermal vents cast steam at a nearby power plant that can add to landscape photos of the lighthouse. Seabirds also frequent the area and make for great photos. Parking and numerous hiking trails to explore along the Reykjanes peninsula are available nearby. (Keflavík, Iceland)
