Singapore Botanic Gardens is a 162-year-old tropical garden that is one of only three gardens, and the only tropical garden, to be honoured as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the early years, the Gardens played an important role in fostering agricultural development in Singapore and the region through collecting, growing, experimenting and distributing potentially useful plants.
