Adashino Nenbutsuji Temple is a Buddhist temple in the scenic area of Sagano, Kyoto, famous for its collection of over 8000 Buddhist statues, many of which were unclaimed graves transferred from all over Kyoto. Situated in the tranquil environment of Arashiyama, this spot presents an exceptional opportunity for photography. The temple grounds are filled with a sea of stone Buddhas, moss-covered monuments, and age-old trees, creating a spiritual and serene atmosphere. Capture the solemn faces of the stone Buddhas, the texture of moss and weathered stone, or the contrast between man-made structures and nature. Visit during the Obon festival in August, when the temple is illuminated with thousands of candles to pay tribute to the spirits of the departed, for a truly atmospheric photography experience.
